30 March 2015: Prof. Richard Ned Lebow talk at PSIR

Richard Ned Lebow, internationally acclaimed Professor of International Political Theory at King’s College London and Dartmouth College and Bye-Fellow of University of Cambridge, delivered a most interesting talk at the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of Peloponnese on Monday, 30 March 2015. His lecture was on his recent book entitled Goodbye Hegemony! Power and Influence in the Global System. Professor Lebow argued that the US foreign policy has never been hegemonic in the sense that the US dictates its intentions to other states. The US instead attempts to influence the incentives of other actors, frequently in relative equality with the latter in international organizations and other multilateral fora. The talk was followed by a lively discussion with faculty members and students.
