Short biographical note
Christos Kourtelis is a lecturer of International Relations at the Department of Political Science of Maastricht University. He completed his undergraduate degree in European Studies in Greece at the Hellenic Open University (distinction). He then continued his studies at LSE, where he obtained an MSc in Development Studies. He received his Ph.D in International Political Economy from the Department of European and International Studies at King’s College London. His work focuses on the implementation of the economic aspect of the European Neighbourhood Policy in North Africa. His research interests include the external policies of the EU to the MENA countries, the aid policies of the EU member states, the political economy of EU development assistance. Christos has worked for the European Commission. He has also taught several modules related to EU politics, international political economy, international relations and global politics at King’s College London, Birkbeck College London and the University of Westminster.
