  • Christopher Hill has been Wilson E. Schmidt Distinguished Professor of International Relations at SAIS Europe (the School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University, Bologna) since January 2017. He is also Emeritus Professor of International Relations at the Department of Politics and International Studies (POLIS) of the University of Cambridge, and an Emeritus Fellow of Sidney Sussex College. He held the Montague Burton chair at the LSE between 1991-2004, and the Sir Patrick Sheehy chair at Cambridge between 2004-2016. He has published widely in the areas of foreign policy analysis, European foreign policy and general International Relations. His most recent publications are: The Future of British Foreign Policy: Security and Diplomacy in a World after Brexit (Polity, 2019); International Relations and the European Union, 3rd ed. Edited with Michael Smith and Sophie Vanhoonacker (OUP 2017); Foreign Policy in the Twenty-First Century (Palgrave Macmillan, 2016); (with Sarah Beadle) The Art of Attraction: Soft Power and the UK’s Role in the World (British Academy, 2014); and The National Interest in Question: Foreign Policy in Multicultural Societies (OUP 2013). He was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2007. He received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of the Peloponnese in 2015, and was made an Ufficiale dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia in 2017.
