PSIR’s Youth Summer School 2014

The Department of Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) is pleased to announce and invite applications for its first Youth Summer School at its new premises in the seaside town of Kiato. This year, Youth Summer School 2014’s focal theme is entitled “Youth and Development in the Mediterranean.” It is designed to encourage and bring together scholars and students who display an interest or seek to develop a commitment to the study of the multifaceted relationship of youth to development in the Mediterranean. It particularly targets pre-early career university students of any level who are strongly interested in deepening or gaining knowledge of the subject field and, thereby, acquiring a useful educational building block for further research or future employment.

In particular, the 2014 PSIR Youth Summer School sets out to focus on the following topics:

  • Youth as Agent of Change: Political Movements, Social Media and NGOs,
  • The Role of Political and Social Islam: Different Trends and Discourses,
  • Youth in War Zones and Failed States (Syria, Libya, Iraq),
  • Youth and Migration Pressures,
  • Regional Co-operation on Development and Education.
