The AfriquEurope project and  PSIR as the leader of the consortium, in collabortion with  East African Community (EAC) and East African Kiswahili Commission (EAKC) organised its 10th International Conference on 3 & 4 September 2026 at Arusha - Tanzania, at the East African Community Headquarters on:

Peace and Security
in EU-Africa Relations

The conference featured research papers and reports from research centres on the current situation in Africa, with presentations in two languages (English and French) on the main challenges relating to peace and security, as well as new forms of security challenges such as cyber-attacks and how these issues affect the dynamics of relations between Europe and Africa.

As part of the conference proceedings, there was also a visit by the delegates to the Arusha branch of the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal (the other branch is located in The Hague), where trials were held concerning Rwanda's genocide (the Hague branch dealt with war crimes in Yugoslavia).

The AfriquEurope project coordinated by PSIR, is the larger (in number of partners) European collaboration program between European and African universities in the social sciences.
