
The University of the Peloponnese provides scientists with the possibility of conducting Postdoctoral Research in fields that fall within the research interests and/or cognitive objects of its Departments, in accordance with applicable law and regulations.
Postdoctoral research has basic goals:
a) the expansion of the results of the researcher’s doctorate thesis in new scientific directions that the Department is interested in,
b) the development of new research areas in the Department, relevant to the scientific area of the researcher’s thesis,
c) the contribution to the approach of special research problems that the department is concerned about,
d) the support of scientists able to contribute to the advance of science, research and applications,
e) the promotion of the academic prestige and the international distinction of the research work of the University.

"Competitive armaments and armed conflicts: the case of Greece and Turkey from 1833 to the present (ARCADE)"
Funded by the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (EL.ID.E.K.) in the framework of the Action “2nd Call for Research Projects of EL.ID.E.K. for the support of Postdoctoral Researchers” (Project Number: 00789).
The research is being carried out at PSIR in collaboration with The Sir Michael Howard Centre for the History of War, King's College London and the Institute of International Relations, Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences. It is the first systematic and comprehensive study of the competitive armaments between Greece and the Ottoman Empire/Turkey, as well as their correlation with the outbreak of armed conflict between these two states from the mid-nineteenth century to the present day.

Marina Eleftheriadou is an adjunct lecturer at the Department of Political Science and International Relations of the University of the Peloponnese. Dr. Vasiliki Petsa is a PhD holder in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Peloponnese. Her research explored intercultural and identity issues in the travel narrations of recent Greek film production in the light of the “street movie”.
