The AfriquEurope project and  PSIR as the leader of the consortium, in collabortion with Abou Bekr Belkaïd University - Department of Social Sciences, succesfully organized its 9^th International Conference on June 10&11, 2026 at Tlemcen, Algeria on:

 The EU, Algeria,
and the Demographic Transition in Africa:
Social Implications and Economic Perspectives. 

The conference provided a fruitful forum for dialogue among researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and civil society actors from Africa and Europe (with presentations provided in 3 languages: Arabic, English and French), regarding major challenges related to demographic transition, youth, migration, population ageing, the demographic dividend, and the prospects for sustainable economic and social development.

Through keynote lectures, international panels, and thematic sessions, this scientific event contributed to strengthening academic dialogue and cooperation between Africa and Europe on strategic issues shaping the future of both continents.

The AfriquEurope project coordinated by PSIR, is the larger (in number of partners) European collaboration program between European and African universities in the social sciences.
