They are also taught appropriate strategies for approaching, understanding, and analyzing scientific articles and excerpts from scientific books related to their field of study, and they practice these strategies. In addition, students become familiar with English academic discourse and the skills associated with it (e.g., targeted listening, proper note-taking). Students are asked to write medium-length essays and deliver short group or individual presentations on a project based on a literary book. Extensive use is made of the Department's electronic platform for vocabulary practice and essay writing, as well as the Internet. Finally, students will learn how to improve their communication skills and practise expressing their opinions through argumentation on topics related to their field of study.
