Course Description

The course is aimed at students who do not have a language proficiency certificate at the "good knowledge" level (level B2 of the Common European Framework of Refer-ence for Languages). The course includes a quick overview and teaching of the basic structures and tense system of the English language, as well as upgrading students' vocabulary, development of all basic language skills (comprehension and production of written and spoken language) through the use of spoken and written language on topics related to the students' field of study (Politics, Liberalism, Conservatism, So-cialism, Nationalism, Feminism, Ecology). The course takes the form of weekly lec-tures during which practical exercises are carried out to acquire specific skills. The educational material used includes the course textbook, PowerPoint presentations, and extensive use of ICT for searching for information sources on the internet, mul-timedia (video lectures, documentaries, interactive videos, etc.), interactive and oth-er self-study material available on the internet related to learning the English lan-guage. At the same time, students are asked to write three short essays on topics related to politics, participate in collaborative projects using ICT by communicating with students from other universities, read a book of their choice or the recom-mended book, and do a group or individual project and presentation on it.
