Andrzej Jakubowski is affiliated with the UNESCO Chair in Cultural Property Law of the University of Opole and with the Institute of Law Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In 2017-2022, he served as Chair of the ILA Committee on Participation in Global Cultural Heritage Governance. He is also mediator at the UNESCO Intergovernmental “Return and Restitution” Committee (ICPRCP) and arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration for Art (CAfA; https://www.cafa.world/arbitration/pool/andrzej_jakubowski/). He holds a PhD in Law (European University Institute, Italy) and a Master in Art History (University of Warsaw). Andrzej Jakubowski currently leads the project “Legal forms of cultural heritage governance in Europe – A comparative law perspective”, funded by the National Science Centre (Poland). He has authored, inter alia, State Succession in Cultural Property (Oxford University Press, 2015) and edited Cultural Rights as Collective Rights: An International Law Perspective (Brill-Nijhoff, 2016). He is the co-editor (with Ana Filipa Vrdoljak and Alessandro Chechi) of the Oxford Commentary on the 1970 UNESCO and 1995 UNIDROIT Conventions (forthcoming).
